Not seen since the days of Johnny Damon leaving the Boston Red Sox for the New York Yankees has SportsNation seen one of their own leave the hometown team.

Ray Allen shocked the Boston faithful and left the team that got him his first championship in 2008 for one of their more heated rivals in the Miami Heat.

Allen will accept the Heat’s mid-level exception that starts at $3.09 million and could be worth a maximum of $9.5 million over three seasons.
